Court rejects North Whitehall Walmart challenge

Citizens group appealed supervisors approval of Route 309 project.

An appeals court on Friday upheld North Whitehall Township supervisors' zoning approval for a Walmart Supercenter near Route 309 in Schnecksville, rejecting challenges by a citizens group.

The group, North Whitehall for Sustainable Development, objected to the board's decision, saying the retailer had not satisfactorily proven that its 181,897-square-foot store would not have a detrimental effect on the community.
